How the Spot Award Program Was Developed

  • Human Resources started with guidelines from the UC Office of the President
    • Human Resources consulted with campus groups including the Academic Business Officers Group (ABOG), Control Unit Administrators (CUAs), a Focus Group of Staff Organizations, the Chancellor's Staff Advisory Committee (CSAC), and the Cabinet
    • We reviewed best practices for public and private organizations
  • We followed these principles in developing the Berkeley Campus Spot Award Program
    • Transparency – the program is clear and easy to understand
    • Consistency - the guidelines support consistency across campus
    • Accountability – the campus will monitor the program to make sure it is administered consistently.
    • Ease of Processing – the program uses an existing payment process
    • Quality - the program will be reviewed and evaluated to make sure it meets campus objectives
